On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched a massive invasion of Normandy, France, with the ultimate goal of liberating Europe from Nazi Germany’s grip. This bold and risky mission involved a massive air, sea, and land operation, and it required the participation of thousands of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and civilians. Despite the overwhelming challenges and intense opposition, the Allied forces successfully landed on the beaches of Normandy, secured a foothold, and began the long road to victory. Today, we honor and pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives and sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom and way of life. We owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid, but we can honor their legacy by ensuring that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
